A note from Pierre

It started with an idea.
It usually still does.

Fashion, photography, and the things people around me need tend to become starting points. Outfittr began with clothes I couldn’t find. MathPeers grew out of helping classmates with math. I like noticing something that could work better, then making it exist.

I took it from an idea to an App Store release, adding virtual try-on, outfit ratings, fit battles, and share cards along the way.

Built the mobile app for an existing Moodle platform with 2,000+ learners and 350 courses. As the sole mobile developer under my supervisor’s review, I translated its web workflows into React Native and TypeScript using the existing REST APIs.

  • Learning: course discovery, enrolment, payments, quizzes, and assignments.
  • Access: learner, instructor, and admin roles, plus messaging and authenticated media.
  • Continuity: offline access, deep links, and session restoration.
The hard part

Opening a course spans enrolment, authenticated content, and saved progress. I connected those steps to Moodle’s existing APIs and tested the learner journey across screens, including returning after a session ended.

I led mobile development on a three-person home-services marketplace team, building the client and provider flows from booking and chat to quotes and earnings. I configured Stripe Connect and Render, and integrated two teammates’ backend work with the React Native app.

The hard part

A payment can succeed while the next database operation fails. I added recovery handlers to cancel the authorization if job assignment failed, and built checks around withdrawals so retries would not create a second payout.

Payment recovery
Authorize funds when a quote is accepted, then capture after the client confirms completion. If job assignment fails after authorization, cancel the hold so the payment and job do not drift apart.
Withdrawal coordination
Check for an in-flight withdrawal, record a pending transaction, and recheck the available balance before sending a payout. Stripe idempotency keys give retries a consistent identity.
Matching and integration
Use Supabase distance queries to match jobs with professionals whose travel radius reaches the address. Bring the client and provider workflows together with the Express API and a Render deployment.

    Built in 24 hours at DeltaHacks with two teammates, Scrappy helps students decide what to recycle and imagine what else an item could become. I built the frontend, integrated Gemini’s image analysis, and designed the Supabase schema for leaderboards. The team’s flow adds generated craft previews and ElevenLabs narration.

    A Next.js and TypeScript tool that matches job postings to a candidate’s experience and uses Gemini to draft tailored application documents. I built the workflow from profile extraction and job matching through document generation and PDF preparation.

    Java Android museum catalogue built with three classmates using Scrum and Jira. I owned registration on Firebase Auth, refactored it to Model-View-Presenter, wrote 7 JUnit/Mockito tests, and added persisted pagination and admin-only deletion. Team grade: 99%.

    Founded a peer tutoring platform for Grade 9–12 math and physics and built the site. Tutored five students a week in math and physics.

It started with Roblox.
Then it got real.

01The beginning

I wanted to make things.

I learned Lua at nine to build in Roblox, including a game that assembled obstacle courses from pieces I’d made. At twelve, I built a Python cipher with a Tkinter desktop interface.

In high school, I built a camera inventory program for my yearbook teacher. It gave me a different reason to care whether the code worked: someone else would rely on it.

02From interest to release

Fashion gave me a reason to build.

I kept seeing outfits online without any way to find the pieces. Over about a year, that frustration became Outfittr and an App Store release.

Then I watched a friend use it and caught myself explaining every next step. Shipping had felt like the finish line. That afternoon gave me a new problem to work on: making the app understandable without me beside it.

03Beyond the code

I like helping people find their footing.

I founded a Model UN club with more than 20 members and helped delegates prepare for six competitions. Returning to DRMUN as a UNESCO chair brought that interest into technology: our committee discussed AI in healthcare, including privacy and access.

MathPeers grew out of helping classmates work through difficult problems. Tutoring five students a week taught me to listen for where an explanation stopped making sense. At MEDMUN, that same interest in bringing people together now runs alongside my work as Chief of Staff.

04Now

Still following that curiosity.

Integrating AI into useful products has become a focus of my work, from Outfittr’s fashion tools to Scrappy’s upcycling experience. I’m now a Software Engineer Intern on Dayforce’s AI Services team while studying Computer Science at U of T.

I want to keep strengthening my fundamentals, learn more about the models I work with, and build alongside people who challenge how I think. I’m still driven by the same thing that got me into this at nine: having an idea and wanting to see it exist.
